This is the time of the year to catch the first colors of Spring.
The greens are fresh and yellow and the flowering shrub is bright.
This was painted in the foothills of Colorado.

How I love to watch
The clouds? : - Peacefully –
Peacefully drifted by,
Silently upon the breeze –
They easily across the clear blue sky.

Loving Clouds
How I love to watch the clouds
Peacefully, peacefully drifting by
Silently upon the breeze
They ease across the clear blue sky.

How they build and roll and tumble
Just like angels out to play
Dancing with the sylphs and fairies
Head o'er heels along the way.

Each new shape is quite amusing:
Puffs to great majestic towers
Building for their loving gift
To bless the earth with vital showers.

Impressionistic aspen tree painting

Between Two Trees 30x48
acrylic / oil

It is not so much for its beauty that the forest makes a claim upon men's hearts, as for that subtle something, that quality of air that emanation from old trees, that so wonderfully changes and renews a weary spirit. ~Robert Louis Stevenson

Abstract expressionistic fine art painting

White Study on Blue20x20 sold

This piece was just sold to an art collector in NY,
THANKS!

The Color White
White projects purity, cleanliness, and neutrality. Doctors don white coats, brides traditionally wear white gowns, and a white picket fence surrounds a safe and happy home.

How the color white affects us physically

  • Aids mental clarity
  • Encourages us to clear clutter or obstacles
  • Evokes purification of thoughts or actions
  • Enables fresh beginnings

How the color blue effects us physically

  •                                                   Calms and sedates
  • Cools
  • Aids intuition
Blue is the color of the Throat Chakra, also known as Visuddha.

This chakra is located in the throat. It is linked to the throat, neck, hands, and arms.

The Throat Chakra is connected with speech and hearing,
 and encourages spiritual communication.
Opening the Throat Chakra is said to improve clairaudience.

Gemstones that will aid the Throat Chakra include turquoise and aquamarine. (ask.com)

Contemporary fine art painting

Along the Creek 24x30

Blue is the overwhelming "favorite color." Blue is seen as trustworthy, dependable, and committed.

The color of ocean and sky, blue is perceived as a constant in our lives. As the collective color of the spirit, it invokes rest and can cause the body to produce chemicals that are calming. However, not all blues are serene and sedate.

Electric or brilliant blues become dynamic and dramatic -- an engaging color that expresses exhilaration. Some shades or the overuse of blue may come across as cold or uncaring.

Indigo, a deeper blue, symbolizes a mystical borderland of wisdom, self-mastery, and spiritual realization. While blue is the color of communication with others, indigo turns the blue inward to increase personal thought, profound insights, and instant understandings.

Blue is the least "gender specific" color, having equal appeal to both men and women.(about.com)

Abstract expressionistic fine art painting

Falling Up
acrylic/oil
Another in my new movement art series.
Truly a painting  frenzy and the best part of my day.
I love to finish and start my day in the  studio.
I find it very zen, tactile, physical and non rational.
A sense of freedom;
"Kandinsky believed that colors provoke emotions. Red was lively and confident; Green was peaceful with inner strength; Blue was deep and supernatural; Yellow could be warm, exciting, disturbing or totally bonkers; and White seemed silent but full of possibilities. He also assigned instrument tones to go with each color: Red sounded like a trumpet; Green sounded like a middle-position violin; Light Blue sounded like flute; Dark Blue sounded like a cello, Yellow sounded like a fanfare of trumpets; and White sounded like the pause in a harmonious melody." Contemporary impressionistic fine art painting

Aspen's Nocturnal
Another in my "aspen" series. This was created with layer on layer
of vivid color, texture and depth.

"Impressionistic artist tasted the world through their eyes.
The new painting was all about the thrill and delight of the visual sensation, which means becoming intimately involved with the sensation of light or 'painting the light' (you can see how far a field we have come when Thomas Kinkade uses the same phrase). It is about painting directly from nature and expressing the rush of your visual (as opposed to ideational) sensation on the canvas in such a way that the activity itself is the point, not the painting!" Abstract expressionistic art

Broken and Blue 20x20
acrylic on canvas
My goal over the next few weeks is to take the many definitions of "Abstract art",
and do my interpretation. Here is my first one titled Broken & Blue. Maybe even
emulating the famous artist listed below. I started with a plain white canvas on the
easel and applied paint with my knife. As I continued over the next several
hours and days my paint was scraped, blended, scrubbed and dripped.
I had to move around my canvas while on the floor on on the easel.

(noun) - Action Painting emphasizes the process of making art, often through a variety of techniques that include dripping, dabbing, smearing, and even flinging paint on to the surface of the canvas. These energetic techniques depend on broad gestures directed by the artist's sense of control interacting with chance or random occurrences. For this reason, Action Painting is also referred to as Gestural Abstraction. The artists and the various techniques are associated with the movement Abstract Expressionism and The New York School of the late 1940s, 1950s and 1960s (for example, Jackson Pollock, Willem de Kooning and Franz Kline). about.com

This contemporary abstract is part of my "White on Blue" series.
Layers of color are applied with movement to show the texture and
spontaneity. This painting is large with painted edges and would
