Blue is the overwhelming "favorite color." Blue is seen as trustworthy, dependable, and committed.

The color of ocean and sky, blue is perceived as a constant in our lives. As the collective color of the spirit, it invokes rest and can cause the body to produce chemicals that are calming. However, not all blues are serene and sedate.

Electric or brilliant blues become dynamic and dramatic -- an engaging color that expresses exhilaration. Some shades or the overuse of blue may come across as cold or uncaring.

Indigo, a deeper blue, symbolizes a mystical borderland of wisdom, self-mastery, and spiritual realization. While blue is the color of communication with others, indigo turns the blue inward to increase personal thought, profound insights, and instant understandings.

Blue is the least "gender specific" color, having equal appeal to both men and women.(about.com)

Another in my new movement art series.
Truly a painting  frenzy and the best part of my day.
I love to finish and start my day in the  studio.
I find it very zen, tactile, physical and non rational.
A sense of freedom;
"Kandinsky believed that colors provoke emotions. Red was lively and confident; Green was peaceful with inner strength; Blue was deep and supernatural; Yellow could be warm, exciting, disturbing or totally bonkers; and White seemed silent but full of possibilities. He also assigned instrument tones to go with each color: Red sounded like a trumpet; Green sounded like a middle-position violin; Light Blue sounded like flute; Dark Blue sounded like a cello, Yellow sounded like a fanfare of trumpets; and White sounded like the pause in a harmonious melody." my abstract expressionistic method. This was created with thick
juicy texture and movement.

To continue my series on what is abstract; I took techniques used by my mentors,
Pollock, De Kooning, Mitchell and with movement I spilled, spluttered, smeared and
brushed to create these paintings.
"I eliminated composition, arrangement, relationship, and light - all
this silly talk about line, color and form." (De Kooning)
 I find I still look for composition, color, line, when painting abstract.....

My goal over the next few weeks is to take the many definitions of "Abstract art",
and do my interpretation. Here is my first one titled Broken & Blue. Maybe even
emulating the famous artist listed below. I started with a plain white canvas on the
easel and applied paint with my knife. As I continued over the next several
hours and days my paint was scraped, blended, scrubbed and dripped.
I had to move around my canvas while on the floor on on the easel.

What I love about creating an abstract painting, is the sense of freedom and abandonment.
The process is tactile,  physical, but non rational.
"Abstract  artist do not comply with any art rules". (about .com)
Abstract paintings have characteristics of messiness, extreme energetic application,
and brush strokes that seem to reveal the process.
I personally love Jackson Pollock's approach;
dripping, smearing, slathering  and flinging.
