White Study on Red 18x24 What I love about creating an abstract painting, is the sense of freedom and abandonment. The process is tactile, physical, but non rational. "Abstract artist do not comply with any art rules". (about .com) Abstract paintings have characteristics of messiness, extreme energetic application, and brush strokes that seem to reveal the process. I personally love Jackson Pollock's approach; dripping, smearing, slathering and flinging. (stay tuned for my next Abstract blog) To see more of my Abstract paintings; www.bsyatesart.com |

ABSTRACT CONTEMPORARY FINE ART

White Study on Blue 20x20 ABSTRACT, what exactly is the definition of abstract in art? Good question, my favorite definition comes from "About.com": ABSTRACT, the creative process becomes the art itself. "The work of art becomes an event"(Harold Rosenberg). And for this reason it can be called "action art". I know when I create/paint I need to move around my canvas. From this movement shapes form. Stay tuned for more on the definition of Abstract Art. www.bsyatesart.com |
